Brought to you by the NEA

Nothing says take me seriously more than a gaggle of liberal Hollywood millionaires telling me I am not doing my part to pay for the uninsured:

Truly fine comedy is the ability to subtly poke fun at a larger truth, not take a ham handed swipe at an easy target. But considering that Obama has bought off the pharmaceutical industry and all those greedy executives, perhaps Ferrell has struck comedic gold.

Who would have figured that this group would be capable of such nuanced political satire.

Mitchell Paige and why Hollywood Sucks

Mitchell Paige, the Real GI Joe

For extraordinary heroism and conspicuous gallantry in action above and beyond the call of duty while serving with a company of marines in combat against enemy Japanese forces in the Solomon Islands on 26 October 1942. When the enemy broke through the line directly in front of his position, P/Sgt. Paige, commanding a machinegun section with fearless determination, continued to direct the fire of his gunners until all his men were either killed or wounded. Alone, against the deadly hail of Japanese shells, he fought with his gun and when it was destroyed, took over another, moving from gun to gun, never ceasing his withering fire against the advancing hordes until reinforcements finally arrived. Then, forming a new line, he dauntlessly and aggressively led a bayonet charge, driving the enemy back and preventing a breakthrough in our lines. His great personal valor and unyielding devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service.
With this in mind, I hope everyone will join me in not seeing the newest piece of shit out of Hollywood "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity" also known as GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Director Stephen Sommers, wary of international audiences, says that GI Joe will be in the mold of the Adventure Team 1970s. “This is not a George Bush movie,” Sommers explains. “[I]t’s an Obama world. Right from the writing stage we said to ourselves, this can’t be about beefy guys on steroids who all met each other in the Vietnam War, but an elite organization that’s made up of the best of the best from around the world.”

So GI Joe isn’t a Real American Hero - he’s a UN peacekeeper. This is reminiscent of the determinedly unpatriotic Superman Returns, which deliberately refused to state that Superman was fighting for “truth, justice and the American way.” Even GI Joe is now subject to the dictates of political correctness. We wouldn’t want Europeans thinking that we idolize the men and women of the American military. That would be uncouth.
What makes this even shittier is that Paige spent his retirement working on patriotic education.

Well at least the douchebags at Media Matters for America think its appropriate to piss on a dead hero's grave ... just so long as they can score some points on Glen Beck.

Have we ceded too much?

Old news, but Carrie Prejean, Miss California, lost the Miss USA pageant because some snotty little queer named Mario Lavandeira (aka Perez Hilton) sandbagged her with a question on gay marriage and didn’t like her answer.

To further add insult to injury Lavandeira then went on to call her a “dumb bitch” for her answer.

So my question is have we ceded too much to these people in the name of “tolerance”?

Not so long ago if a man (which chromosomally Lavandeira qualifies as) called a woman a “dumb bitch” over something like this there would be hell to pay. He would be shunned by respectable people at the very least and at worst his pimple ridden face would be used as a concrete paintbrush.

So what the fuck has happened?

Why are people like Lavandeira allowed to disrespect anyone like this, let alone someone as genuine as Prejean?

Have we as a society collectively lost our spine?

How Pop Culture Indoctrinates Us to Hate America

Kyle Smith at PJM reviews “The Soloist” and this line really hit me.

The Soloist has more American flags than Rocky IV, and each is there to tell us that we, as a country, have failed our least fortunate citizens. Ayers sleeps on a filthy, ragged American-flag pillow. He wears an American-flag top hat. In several nightmare sequences set in a community center on Skid Row, American flags pop up everywhere — nasty, dirty ones.
It hit me because it made me think of American History X, especially the dinner scene.

Aside from the fact that I just cannot stand Ed Norton in general, this particular scene is a very not so subtle connect the dot allegory that anyone who questions the hard pressed left wing version of racial issues in this country is a skinhead neo-nazi or close kin. Couple this with the constant intermingling of Ed Norton’s Nazi character early in the movie and the American flag and the point is very clear, real racists and Nazi’s are the heart and soul of this country.

Andrew Breitbart gets it

On pop culture and how influential it is.

Yes, Andrew’s one of the few guys who gets it. Conservative artists are waiting for ground cover: money and employers who will re-hire them even when the New York Times says their movie stinks. Because the Times does that, you know. They don’t say: oh, we disagree with this movie’s politics. They say, this film is terrible, don’t waste your money. Or they don’t review it at all. Since I started speaking out, my novels have gone from getting raves in over 200 venues, to being savaged in one or two. Conservative artists are waiting for an infra-structure of praise and awards and love to support them. Except for me. I’m just blazing away because I know I’m right, I know I’m good, and when it comes to the love of leftist elites, frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

80’s Liberal Agitprop

Considering that we will be running (damn near) an annual $2Trillion deficit, I am now taking bets on how soon it will be until Ridley Scott produces another commercial like this indicting the Dear Leader.

I am giving 10,000:1, because remember, when someone gives you 10,000:1 odds you take them!

Rule Five Applied to Glen Beck

Now I don’t watch Glen Beck regularly (I hate how so many posts of this kind have to start out that way), but for the 2 years I had XM, I listened to him every morning on the drive into work and I do catch his You-Tube highlight reels, so I have been familiar with his shtick for quite a while and think he’s pretty entertaining and somewhat informative.

Looks like the gatekeepers of pop-culture have taken notice too now that his ratings are taking off, and they just cant have that, now can they?

Starting with a less than sympathetic profile in the NY Times, (ugh, where else) pop-culture intellectual wannabes like Bill Maher, John Stewart and Steven Colbert have all taken the opportunity to apply Saul Alinsky’s most effective rule for radicals, #5:

RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions
Beck did address Maher’s near libelous comment that guys like Beck are responsible for the OKC bombing, but h needs to stay on top of these people. If he doesn’t stay on top of people like this, they will destroy and marginalize him just like good ol’ Uncle Saul would have them do.

And Now For a Joke

Since the comedy community has decided to focus their daily two minutes of hate against people like Sarah Palin, Glen Beck and Rick Santelli, POTUS jokes are certainly on the decline.

Nature abhors a vacuum, so Barack Obama Jokes was born.

President Obama took some banking and insurance executives out to dinner and told them, "Order whatever you want to drink, order whatever you want to eat, order some to take home, order some for your neighbors and make sure you all also get some dessert."

One of the executives exclaimed, "Mr. President, that's going to cost a fortune!" Obama replied, "Don't worry about it. We won’t be here when the check comes."

Being good lefty means never having to say you are sorry, #1

I have decided to start a series of entries on hypocrisy and the ability of the left and the popular culture machine in general the ability to forgive any sin, no matter how grave, just so long as you walk the walk and talk the talk.

It will be called “Being good lefty means never having to say you are sorry”.

First at bat, Bruce Springsteen’s stage buddy at the Coronation festivities: Pete Seeger.

Pete Seeger’s life has been marked by tireless and reflexive advocacy for left wing causes. He spent summers entertaining young comrades at the Camp Woodland summer camp for the children of New York City’s left wing community. Seeger sang and donated for other lefty dejour causes such as the end to the Korean War, support for the Republicans in the Spanish Civil War, the Rosenbergs, nuclear disarmament (unilateral naturally), the environmental movement, Vietnam, Nicaragua and just about anything deemed appropriate by the left.

His adherence to the Party line was so strict and unflinching that in 1941 Seeger and his band “The Almanacs” released the album “Songs for John Doe”. It was during that magical time of global peace and prosperity before Operation Barbarossa when the Soviet Union and its gentile and loving leader, Uncle Joe, was helping its pal Hitler put down the totalitarian threat that was posed by their bloodthirsty neighbors in Poland.

The CPUSA was under the complete control of Moscow, and the Soviets now saw an ally, all be it temporary, in Nazi Germany. So they directed their subordinates in Europe and the United States to lobby for peace instead of confrontation with Berlin, and that was the primary message in “Songs for John Doe”.

Seeger’s lyrics eviscerated Roosevelt for aggressive warmongering policies like making sure Britain didn’t starve with “Lend Lease”. (from “Washington Breakdown”)

Franklin D., listen to me,
You ain't a-gonna send me 'cross the sea,
'Cross the sea, 'cross the sea, You ain't a-gonna send me 'cross the sea.

You may say it's for defense,
But that kinda talk that I'm against.
I'm against, I'm against,
That kinda talk ain't got no sense.
Or ranting against the peace time conscription that began in 1940: (from “C is for Conscription”)
I'd rather be at home,
Even sleeping in a holler log,
I'd rather be here
home,
Even sleeping in a holler log.
Than go to the army
Be treated
like a dirty dog!
Naturally, all of this changed 3:15am June 22, 1941 when the first of 166 German divisions poured into Soviet occupied Poland. The CPUSA changed its tone on war, and all the members fell into line.

Seeger had all copies of “Songs for John Doe” recalled and destroyed because they were subversive and could harm the war effort he now enthusiastically supported. He and the Almanacs quickly penned a new album, “Dear Mr. President”, in which the theme was definitely not the kind of pacifism Seeger preached before:

I'm a-goin' to Berlin
To Mister Hitler's town
I'm gonna take my
forty-four
And blow his playhouse down.

How Hitler went to Russia
In search of Russian oil
But the only oil he'll find there
Is a pot
in which he'll boil.

Seeger later enlisted in the Army and entertained troops in the Pacific . Interestingly enough, in all the lyrics in all the songs, its never about protecting America or defeating Imperial Japan, its always about fighting fascism and the betrayal of Russia.

This episode really underscores what’s wrong with people like Seeger, they root for the coach, not for the home team. They are willing to sacrifice every ideal they claim to hold dear to them when those ideals become inconvenient.

Bur most importantly, when they do these things, when they betray themselves and their principles the pop-culture machine and rest of the left always warmly welcomes them back into their bosoms.

Because being good lefty means never having to say you are sorry.

Sometimes I wonder if these people would be on our sides if Al-Qaeda attacked Cuba or North Korea? One could only wonder.

The Pop Culture Presidency

2 years ago no one would have predicted that we would be where we are at today saying: President Barak Obama. Obama ran a fantastic campaign, no doubt about it, but it was his ability to harness, cultivate and manipulate popular culture that gave him the win. With every pop culture megaphone blaring at 11 in everyone’s ear about Obama and his greatness his election was almost guaranteed.

Jay-Z and Maureen Dowd are just two sides of the same pop culture coin, and both were harnessed by the Obama machine.

Pop culture has come to encompass nearly every form of information around us. The nightly news, television shows, movies, music, magazines, the internet, advertizing etcetera and it is decidedly and uniformly hostile to anyone right of center. We do have talk radio but the Generation II Fairness Doctrine will take care of that.

Unfortunately over the past 40 years journalism has fallen into the pop culture net as well. Journalism is no longer done at places like the CNN and the NY Times. If I want to read about what’s going on in energy I go to NEI Nuclear Notes, If I want to know the real story on Iraq I read Michael Yon (or one of the dozens of fine military blogs). Mainstream media has just turned into another channel for the glitterati and literati to let the world know how fucking important they are and how we must be dying to hear them. Sure, I might turn into CNN if I give a fuck about how much it cost Puffy to fill up his Gulfstream V and the Times is pretty good if I want to read a character assassination piece on Cindy McCain, but that’s about it.

Just as pop culture had the ability to propel Obama to a victory, it also had the ability destroy the obstacles that stood in his way.

Remember in late August when McCain announced that Sarah Palin was his running mate? He went from being 8-10 points behind to being competitive in fuckin New Jersey for Christ’s sake! Well naturally the pop culture machine behind Obama couldn’t have that so they sent their pit bulls out and tear he to pieces they did. Tina Fey and Katie Couirc may have been two of the most effective tools in Obama’ arsenal.

And why soviet style agitprop theme in all of Obama’s campaign art? Because its so fucking brilliantly effective and simple! Think about it, the October Revolution and its genocidal progeny was able to control an entire nation of tens of millions for 70 years.

We will probably never have this control over pop culture and whatever inroads we make will take at least a generation.

There are bright spots. The American public has roundly rejected every ham handed anit-war movie that Hollywood has cranked out of the past 6 years.

Andrew Brietbart’s Big Hollywood could turn into something huge in the pop-culture wars and I would make sure to visit it every day, patronize its advertisers, comment on its stories and support it.

Even though the odds are pretty well stacked against us and people are bombarded with this shit 24/7, America remains a fairly conservative country and that gives me a lot of hope as well.
