Civics

From mob rule to anarchy to tyranny.

Things like this need to be mandatory in social studies classes.

Government Cheese for the Press

With a trillion or so dollars of ripe government cheese out there and the media going into a meltdown it was only a matter of time before they started to float some ideas out about how they could collect some payback for their hard work this last election cycle.

First in Connecticut

Connecticut lawmaker Frank Nicastro sees saving the local newspaper as his duty. But others think he and his colleagues are setting a worrisome precedent for government involvement in the U.S. press.
You know NPR is on board.

Is The New York Times any less critical to our society than, say, General Motors? Robert Picard, a professor of media economics and director of the Media Management and Transformation Centre at Jonkoping University in Sweden points out that the Swedish government stepped in explicitly to preserve public discourse.
And the budding grad students at Colombia University want to be sure that the $200,000 that mommy and daddy spent on their masters won’t be wasted working the register at Borders.

So, over in the land of Freedom Fries and Jerry Lewis…there’s a new news policy afoot. President Sarkozy is going where the U.S. government has thus far feared to tread: he’s bailing out France’s newspapers.
In the meantime, will any of this prove instructive for the U.S. government and its news industry? Probably not (socialism! socialism! socialism!). But vive la différence, and everything.

Change, thats what its all about, good and fucking hard.

Sometimes its good to clean

While cleaning out some old boxes, I ran across an old Alice in Chains album Jar of Flies.

I googled my favorite video from the album and sure enough its on You-Tube.

I am Womyn, hear me bore!

So I just shrugged of Natalie Dylan's comments as the ranting of a brainwashed social sciences student when I go to thinking is there actually anything to what she wrote? Specifically:

Like most little girls, I was raised to believe that virginity is a sacred gift a woman should reserve for just the right man. But college taught me that this concept is just a tool to keep the status quo intact. Deflowering is historically oppressive—early European marriages began with a dowry, in which a father would sell his virginal daughter to the man whose family could offer the most agricultural wealth. Dads were basically their daughters’ pimps.
Now, I may be just another simple white male yokel from that stretch of land between New York and Los Angeles called America, and I certainly don’t have advanced training in Womyn's studies (well, perhaps in the more traditional sense he he), but is this how European dowrys worked?

From all I have read about dowrys in Europe (which consists of googling it for about the past 90 minutes), the bride’s family paid. All the warfare in Europe made single young men much more rare than women, and the famailes paid to offload the daughters.

Barack's Lil' Red Book

Seriosuly, you cant make this shit up:

Printed in a size that easily fits into pocket or purse, this book is an anthology of quotations borrowed from Barack Obama's speeches and writings. POCKET OBAMA serves as a reminder of the amazing power of oratory and the remarkable ability of this man to move people with his words.

Old things become new again.

Why not just rename the Stimulus Bill the Great Leap Froward II while we are at it.

I am Womyn, hear me whore!

Hear about Natalie Dylan? She’s the young lass selling her virginity and getting a reported $3.8 million of it.

I had originally thought she was doing this to fund her graduate studies and nothing more. Fair enough, I though. While I may have gone a different route, like driving a Pepsi truck for 5 years, this girl used what nature have her.

Turns out, it seems that it more likely that she is the victim of some man-hating crypto dyke humanities professor (I know, is there any other kind).

When I learned this, it became apparent to me that idealized virginity is just a tool to keep women in their place. But then I realized something else: if virginity is considered that valuable, what’s to stop me from benefiting from that? It is mine, after all. And the value of my chastity is one level on which men cannot compete with me. I decided to flip the equation, and turn my virginity into something that allows me to gain power and opportunity from men. I took the ancient notion that a woman’s virginity is priceless and used it as a vehicle for capitalism.

Are you rolling your eyes? I knew this experiment would bring me condemnation. But I'm not saying every forward-thinking person has to agree with what I’m doing. You should develop your own personal belief system—that’s exactly my point! For me, valuing virginity as sacred is simply not a concept I could embrace. But valuing virginity monetarily—now that’s a concept I could definitely get behind. I no longer view the selling of sex as wrong or immoral—my time at college showed me that I had too blindly accepted such arbitrary norms. And for what it’s worth, the winning bid won’t necessarily be the highest—I get to choose.
Oh crikey! What is this world coming to. As the father of two daughters I cringe at the thought of my girls going to college.

Being good lefty means never having to say you are sorry, #1

I have decided to start a series of entries on hypocrisy and the ability of the left and the popular culture machine in general the ability to forgive any sin, no matter how grave, just so long as you walk the walk and talk the talk.

It will be called “Being good lefty means never having to say you are sorry”.

First at bat, Bruce Springsteen’s stage buddy at the Coronation festivities: Pete Seeger.

Pete Seeger’s life has been marked by tireless and reflexive advocacy for left wing causes. He spent summers entertaining young comrades at the Camp Woodland summer camp for the children of New York City’s left wing community. Seeger sang and donated for other lefty dejour causes such as the end to the Korean War, support for the Republicans in the Spanish Civil War, the Rosenbergs, nuclear disarmament (unilateral naturally), the environmental movement, Vietnam, Nicaragua and just about anything deemed appropriate by the left.

His adherence to the Party line was so strict and unflinching that in 1941 Seeger and his band “The Almanacs” released the album “Songs for John Doe”. It was during that magical time of global peace and prosperity before Operation Barbarossa when the Soviet Union and its gentile and loving leader, Uncle Joe, was helping its pal Hitler put down the totalitarian threat that was posed by their bloodthirsty neighbors in Poland.

The CPUSA was under the complete control of Moscow, and the Soviets now saw an ally, all be it temporary, in Nazi Germany. So they directed their subordinates in Europe and the United States to lobby for peace instead of confrontation with Berlin, and that was the primary message in “Songs for John Doe”.

Seeger’s lyrics eviscerated Roosevelt for aggressive warmongering policies like making sure Britain didn’t starve with “Lend Lease”. (from “Washington Breakdown”)

Franklin D., listen to me,
You ain't a-gonna send me 'cross the sea,
'Cross the sea, 'cross the sea, You ain't a-gonna send me 'cross the sea.

You may say it's for defense,
But that kinda talk that I'm against.
I'm against, I'm against,
That kinda talk ain't got no sense.
Or ranting against the peace time conscription that began in 1940: (from “C is for Conscription”)
I'd rather be at home,
Even sleeping in a holler log,
I'd rather be here
home,
Even sleeping in a holler log.
Than go to the army
Be treated
like a dirty dog!
Naturally, all of this changed 3:15am June 22, 1941 when the first of 166 German divisions poured into Soviet occupied Poland. The CPUSA changed its tone on war, and all the members fell into line.

Seeger had all copies of “Songs for John Doe” recalled and destroyed because they were subversive and could harm the war effort he now enthusiastically supported. He and the Almanacs quickly penned a new album, “Dear Mr. President”, in which the theme was definitely not the kind of pacifism Seeger preached before:

I'm a-goin' to Berlin
To Mister Hitler's town
I'm gonna take my
forty-four
And blow his playhouse down.

How Hitler went to Russia
In search of Russian oil
But the only oil he'll find there
Is a pot
in which he'll boil.

Seeger later enlisted in the Army and entertained troops in the Pacific . Interestingly enough, in all the lyrics in all the songs, its never about protecting America or defeating Imperial Japan, its always about fighting fascism and the betrayal of Russia.

This episode really underscores what’s wrong with people like Seeger, they root for the coach, not for the home team. They are willing to sacrifice every ideal they claim to hold dear to them when those ideals become inconvenient.

Bur most importantly, when they do these things, when they betray themselves and their principles the pop-culture machine and rest of the left always warmly welcomes them back into their bosoms.

Because being good lefty means never having to say you are sorry.

Sometimes I wonder if these people would be on our sides if Al-Qaeda attacked Cuba or North Korea? One could only wonder.

Name that Party: The Kiddy Fucker Edition redux

You get three guesses to name that party ... the LGBT version this time:

Three Portland newspapers and the city police union are calling on the mayor to resign, after he admitted he lied by denying he had a sexual relationship with a teenage boy.

Mayor Sam Adams admitted this week that he lied to cover up his relationship with a teenage legislative intern because a potential mayoral candidate had spread rumors that Adams had sex with a minor.

Adams, 45, said the teen was 17 when they met in 2005, and that the relationship did not turn sexual until the boy turned 18. He said he lied because he was afraid voters wouldn't believe that his young lover had turned 18 before they started having sex.
What is it with democratic mayors of Portland fucking children?

Ammo

There is all this surplus Yugo 7.62x39 on the market now. I have seen people selling this stuff for as little as $100/case. Anyone know if its any good or non-corrosive?

Gotta stock up for the Obacalypse and what'n.

Obama to MOH Recipients: Fuck You

Well isnt this nice:

According to TSO who was at the “Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball”, this newly sworn-in President for the first time in 56 years blew off the ball (that’s 14 Inaugurations).
Hell of a start Mr President, but then again Beyonce, Jay-Z, Ashton, Demi and all those other real American heros are so much more deserving of your time.

I Pledge

Does this quote actually scare anyone besides me:

I pledge to be a servant to our president

It almost sounds like some kind of cult ... but thats so silly. After all, arent liberals part of the reality based community?

The Pop Culture Presidency

2 years ago no one would have predicted that we would be where we are at today saying: President Barak Obama. Obama ran a fantastic campaign, no doubt about it, but it was his ability to harness, cultivate and manipulate popular culture that gave him the win. With every pop culture megaphone blaring at 11 in everyone’s ear about Obama and his greatness his election was almost guaranteed.

Jay-Z and Maureen Dowd are just two sides of the same pop culture coin, and both were harnessed by the Obama machine.

Pop culture has come to encompass nearly every form of information around us. The nightly news, television shows, movies, music, magazines, the internet, advertizing etcetera and it is decidedly and uniformly hostile to anyone right of center. We do have talk radio but the Generation II Fairness Doctrine will take care of that.

Unfortunately over the past 40 years journalism has fallen into the pop culture net as well. Journalism is no longer done at places like the CNN and the NY Times. If I want to read about what’s going on in energy I go to NEI Nuclear Notes, If I want to know the real story on Iraq I read Michael Yon (or one of the dozens of fine military blogs). Mainstream media has just turned into another channel for the glitterati and literati to let the world know how fucking important they are and how we must be dying to hear them. Sure, I might turn into CNN if I give a fuck about how much it cost Puffy to fill up his Gulfstream V and the Times is pretty good if I want to read a character assassination piece on Cindy McCain, but that’s about it.

Just as pop culture had the ability to propel Obama to a victory, it also had the ability destroy the obstacles that stood in his way.

Remember in late August when McCain announced that Sarah Palin was his running mate? He went from being 8-10 points behind to being competitive in fuckin New Jersey for Christ’s sake! Well naturally the pop culture machine behind Obama couldn’t have that so they sent their pit bulls out and tear he to pieces they did. Tina Fey and Katie Couirc may have been two of the most effective tools in Obama’ arsenal.

And why soviet style agitprop theme in all of Obama’s campaign art? Because its so fucking brilliantly effective and simple! Think about it, the October Revolution and its genocidal progeny was able to control an entire nation of tens of millions for 70 years.

We will probably never have this control over pop culture and whatever inroads we make will take at least a generation.

There are bright spots. The American public has roundly rejected every ham handed anit-war movie that Hollywood has cranked out of the past 6 years.

Andrew Brietbart’s Big Hollywood could turn into something huge in the pop-culture wars and I would make sure to visit it every day, patronize its advertisers, comment on its stories and support it.

Even though the odds are pretty well stacked against us and people are bombarded with this shit 24/7, America remains a fairly conservative country and that gives me a lot of hope as well.

I’m rooting for America, not the coach

I am sure most of you have seen the video with Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and a whole gaggle of ignorant glitterati power sluts pledging to “do what’s best for America now that the our Dear Leader has been ordained”.

If you haven’t seen it, go Google it because I won’t even link to such fucking garbage.

Quite frankly it made me sick, but it illustrates the single biggest difference between us and them and no one put it better than Ed Morrissey

Best of luck, President Obama. My prayers are with you, for support and wisdom as you assume the burden of this office and lead our country. When you fail to provide that leadership or demonstrate wisdom, though, don’t expect me to be silent. I’m rooting for America, not the coach.
We will see how the next few months shake out. Hope for the best and expect the worst is about all I can do.

File This Under "No Shit"

From Howard Kurtz:

Every inauguration is a major media moment, with nonstop television coverage, newspapers churning out special editions and correspondents parachuting in from around the globe. But it is hard to envision this level of intensity if John McCain were taking the oath of office. All the hoopla has left the impression that many in journalism are thrilled by Obama's swearing-in.

Gee, you think?

Now its cool?

Something this stupid just has to come from the NY Times.

WASHINGTON is suddenly hip again, infused with the heady double-barreled combination of a new crowd of idealistic young political worker bees, who actually believe they can change the world, and the arrival of America's first black president. It's even cool to wave the Stars and Stripes. And in the honeymoon months of the Barack Obama presidency, before the country's marriage to its new president undergoes the usual souring, a trip to the nation's capital is just the ticket. Why, it would almost be unpatriotic not to visit.
Funny, I always thought it was something to be proud of.

When the Times goes out of business this year, and the Maureen Dowd’s new career consists of working a glory hole at a pornographic book store in Newark, I will open that bottle of Champale I have been saving up for just such a special occasion.

H/T Instapundit.

Emmanuel Goldstein

Over at Extreme Mortman they were talking about what the “comedic left” will do now that they don’t have Bush to kick around anymore. Mortman, quoting Peter Beinart, was rather optimistic that guys like Colbert and Stewart might have to grow up a little now that they (or their pals more specifically) are in charge.

One of the commenters brought all this into context though with a great 1984 metaphor.

Even though The Party controlled every aspect of Oceania, they still managed to broadcast at least Two Minutes of Hate toward Emmanuel Goldstein. After years (possibly decades), ratings never dropped.
This was the best and probably most realistic response to the post. After all, as triumphant as the left was in 1992 they never missed an opportunity to kick someone when they were down. Just go read a copy of “The Nation” from early 1993.

Obama's Pectacular Moment Staged

I guess my instincts were right on this one. Remember that picture of Berry the Beefcake on the beach in Hawaii that turned the panties of such notable left wing skags like Ann Marie Wilcox and Maureen Dowd's panties into gushing rivers of feminine lust? Looks like it was staged.

Gary Morgan, a British journalist who runs Los Angeles-based Splash News, one of the largest paparazzi agencies in the world, says Mr Obama's Secret Service men assisted his photographers in getting pictures of the President-Elect on the beach.

He said: "Obama is the paparazzi president. The Secret Service was very cool with us. They knew what we wanted to do. They told us if we stuck to certain areas, we would be fine. They got to know who we were and it was very pleasurable working with them."
But I gotta ask, why are we only hearing about this from a British newspaper?

Where's the Taint - Hoaxed

Any Idea who the gal in the photo is:

Her name is Linda Panetta and she seems to hate the Untied States as much as her chums Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega who accompany her in the picture. She is also the daughter of soon to be CIA chief Leon Panetta.

J. Michael Waller, who found this little gem, makes a great point that this kind of familial activity could spell the end of a career for an analyst or someone applying for security clearance. I certainly hope they make some hay with this during his confirmation hearings.

And if anyone is wondering why this post falls into the Kiddy Fucker category, Daniel Ortega repeatedly molested his (then) 11 year old stepdaughter in the mid-80's. He used parliamentary immunity to avoid prosecution and to this day remains a darling of the left.

Just another example of never having to say you are sorry if you are a leftist.

Via Redstate

Update: Not quite sure how real this is. I cant seem to confirm that this is Leon Panetta's daughter. Someone should shake this one out soon enough. Stay tuned.

More Update This Bio from Time says that he only has three sons.

More More Update: This woman is evidently a fraud.

It must be nice

I wonder how it feels for the far left SLPC to have its press releases transcribed verbatim.

And interest in racist ideology was so high right after the election that computer servers for two White supremacist Web sites crashed, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups.
After all, the massive throngs of white supremacists that have been flooding the streets since Obama's election protesting and committing acts against Jews and vandalizing synagogues .... oh wait .... that’s the Hamas cheerleaders and their left wing allies (none of which are listed as one of those nasty ol "hate groups").... my bad.

Maybe if the Klan could afford good legal representation, they might be as influential as ANSWER.

Where's Rahm Emanuel

Anyone hear from Rahm Emanuel since it came out that he had indeed been talking with Rod Blagojevich about the senate seat?

I have not seen him on the TV and he hasn’t been quoted for quite some time in the papers.

Something tells me he that after he and team Obama got caught lying he is trying his best to ride out Blagojevich's impeachment.

Fortunately for him, no one in the press has noticed (or gives a shit).

Mexico: Failed State

You think that Mexico has got stability problems with the rampant drug gangs that control several Mexican states, just you wait till PEMEX collapses.

Mexico's federal budget is about $250B. Without the money that PEMEX pays them $40B and the 115,000 jobs that PEMEX provides Mexico will be in some deep shit.

Welcome Back Stagflation, we hardly knew ye

Every year things happen faster than the year before. Wars are fought more quickly, technology progresses faster, communications are instantaneous and populations migrate en mass in no time. What once took centuries and decades can now be done in weeks. People have come to expect fast results in every aspect of their lives nowadays and economics is no exception.

The American public has short memories and expects things to happen fast. If Obama, Reid and Pelosi cannot deliver on tangibles by late summer of 2010, they will lose control of the house. Tangibles being private sector jobs, positive GDP growth, stabilization of housing prices and a stock market that increases.

The root problem of the US economy is that we consume more than we produce. Any attempt to “stimulate” the economy without attempting to fix our fundamental consumption/production deficit will fail. Unfortunately all the talk of stimulus that I read about involves the looting of the US treasury to pay for shiny new things and has little to do with the real bitter medicine we need to take.

The inflation that is surely going to come along with these newly promised multi year trillion dollar deficits will stalk Obama in 2012. With higher inflation comes higher interest rates. If people cannot afford their homes when they have 6% mortgages, how does anyone believe that they will afford them with 16% mortgages. Higher interest rates will also force the fed to increase the yield on its bonds and make financing the nations debt even more expensive. Last year alone we spent $450Bil financing our debt. Higher interest also makes financing a business expansion increasingly difficult.

The media will do its best to make sure that Obama doesn’t own the recession. Unfortunately for him they wont be able to do that for more than a year or two.

Name that Party: The Kiddy Fucker Edition

Lets play name that party!

From the NY Times:
Mayor Gary Becker of Racine was arrested Tuesday on tentative charges of attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement and possession of child pornography, state officials said. Mr. Becker, left, was also accused of exposing a child to harmful materials, using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and misconduct in public office, according to a news release by the State Department of Justice. Mr. Becker, 51, was freed Wednesday evening on a $165,000 cash bond. The Racine police received a tip two weeks ago about possible criminal activity involving Mr. Becker, Lt. James Dobbs said. Racine is Wisconsin’s fifth-largest city, with about 80,000 residents. It is on Lake Michigan, about 30 miles south of Milwaukee.
Not at the Times .. hows bout MSNBC:
The man who has taken over for Racine Mayor Gary Becker after his arrest on probable charges of second-degree sexual assault of a child, child pornography and solicitation of a minor has called for Becker's resignation.
Nope, not there either.

I wonder if the party affiliation (Its D in case anyone was wondering) would have been left out if he were a republican? At least none of the articles called it a "date gone wrong".

A Hearty "Haw Haw" to Steven Soderbergh

It looks like Steven Soderbergh biopic felation of murdering Maoist/Stlainsit (he was a complex man after all) Che Guevara has taken in a whopping $10,077,133, with an impressive US total of $293,708.

Wonderful economics, considering it cost him $60million to make.

This “haw haw’s” for you Steven. May all your cinematic endeavors be this successful you fucking tool.

Press Headlines from the Future

With The One's coronation only days away, the press seems to be too busy ejaculating all over themselves to do their jobs. This really can’t last more than six months and the reality of the situation we now find ourselves in will eventually return in some form or another.

However in this post modern paradise that the literati and academia has constructed, reality is entirely subjective and I am sure that we will see lots of headlines and stores like this coming in late 2010:
Rays of Hope Beginning to Appear in Lingering Economic Cloud

August 25th, 2010

AP – While the economic recession that began under the widely unpopular republican Bush administration shows no empirical sign of weakening, much anecdotal evidence points to a significant breakthrough in the nations economic paralysis.

Several key sections of the Economic Hope and Recovery Act of 2009 championed by President Obama and key democratic congressional leadership but vehemently opposed by congressional republicans appear to be just hitting their stride and effectiveness just as the mid term congressional elections heat up. Thousands of unemployed youth have been put back to work in the 500,000 strong Civilian National Defense Corps.

For more information please go to Change.Gov/pressroom for a more detailed analysis by AP economists.

Stay tuned for fun times.

Anti-Racist Riots Turn Racist

Dog bites man.

The roving mob expressed fury at police and frustration over society's racial injustice. Yet the demonstrators were often indiscriminate, frequently targeting the businesses and prized possessions of people of color.
It would be funny if people were not getting hurt.

The Big Green Turd

Having children means I watch a fair deal of children’s television programming. I find Sponge Bob to be the most appealing and least offensive. That and my daughter is old enough now, so other cartoon alternatives like South Park are out of the question.

Nickelodeon has had this big push for the past month or so called The Big Green Help. Its basically a bunch of PSA’s with Nick personalities urging kids to “be green”, saying things like “if its green, that means its good for the earth. If its green its good” and giving their own “green” testimonials.

My favorite testimonial is Miranda Cosgrove saying that she doesn’t ask her mom for car rides on short trips anymore, she rides her bicycle instead. She seems like a charming young lass and all but does anyone actually think she’s not full of shit here?

On the one hand, its nice that Sponge Bob can put my 2-1/2 year old daughter and increasingly my 5 month old daughter into a trance like state for a few minutes and let me cook dinner or clean, but I really am kind of creeped out by the unending propaganda being stuffed down their throats.

A good thing to keep in mind here is that changes in public policy to combat man made global warming (or does all the conflicting and contradictory information now mean it is to be referred to as “climate change” ) will never effect the people who push hardest for it. There will always be the Ed Beagly Jr glitterati environmentalist types who, batshit insane as they are, actually walk the walk. But those who push hardest for the legislative changes have the money to buy themselves a ticket out of a lower standard of living that they seem so damn eager to impose on everyone else.

Al Gore will still have his 25,000 square ft house, Barbara Streisand will still have those 2 big beautiful 250KW Caterpillar diesel generators on standby, and Bobby “one more hit” Kennedy Jr will still have his Gulfstream 500.
